Dress Code

News

•  Thoroughly review the Pennsylvania DECA Dress Code with your students.

NOTE: Students should be aware that points may be deducted at what the judge considers to be inappropriate or non-businesslike appearance. (Examples of this may include visible tattoos, excessive or facial piercing, hairstyles or colors, etc.)

2. Each year, we have disqualifications due to dress code violations. The dress code is specific in its requirements. The best rule to follow is that if you have any questions pertaining to the appropriateness of your dress, do not wear the item(s) in question.

3. Please note that the dress code for the state conference requires students to wear the current Pennsylvania DECA conference shirt (issued at registration) with a business skirt or slacks, dress shoes, stockings or socks for the opening session and the written testing and/or orientation meetings. No denim, jeans or sneakers will be allowed.

Blazers or suits are required for both the interview portions of competition and all other general sessions. This will be the code for the state conference only. At the international conference, business attire will be required for the orientation/manual submission meeting and an official DECA blazer is required for interaction with the judges.

4. Judges will be given a copy of the Pennsylvania DECA Dress Code . They will make the final decision on whether or not dress is appropriate and follows our standards. If they consider a student's dress not to be within the guidelines, they will deduct ten points from the student's score. Students will not be disqualified; however, they will receive penalty points.

5. See a copy of both the Pennsylvania DECA Dress Code and the Intern ational DECA Dress Code below. Please review them carefully with your students and feel free to call the office with any questions you may have.
