MDC Summer Summer Camp in PA

News

The MDA hosts an annual summer camp program for kids between the ages of 6 and 21 who are living with a neuromuscular disease. This camp allows these kids to be just like everyone else and have a week away from clinic visits and doctor appts, therapy visits etc.

To make this week possible, we are currently recruiting volunteer camp counselors to spend a week helping our kids. This is a great opportunity for your students to get one on one experience helping a child with a physical disability. Our camp is held from August 9th-16th at Camp Kon-O-Kwee near Zelienople. I am hoping you will help us in spreading the word about our need for volunteer counselors. Please note, our greatest need is for male counselors.

Each volunteer earns 165 community service hours for their week at camp - not to mention getting an experience that will allow them to make a difference on the life of a child who is living with a physical disability. I frequently write letters of recommendation for volunteers after camp and this experience looks great on a resume.

I am attaching more information for your review - please feel free to distribute this information to all of your students. For more information, they can even visit our website at www.mda.org and click on summer camp.

If you should have any questions, please contact me at (412) 823-4094 or by email at sthompson@mdausa.org. I really do appreciate your attention to this matter.
