The year's just getting started! Keep up with your recruiting efforts, learn about the different competitive events, and get more tips to succeed in this edition of Tips of the Week.
- Continue your recruiting efforts. Goal is 5 more members than in prior year. The more members you have, the more you can have have compete in each event... The larger your district is, the more members allowed to proceed to states in each event...
- Start selecting who will compete in which event at districts: COMPETITIVE EVENTS LIST. The PRINCIPLES OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION EVENTS, TEAM DECISION EVENTS, INDIVIDUAL SERIES EVENTS, and the PERSONAL FINANCIAL LITERACY EVENT will take place at districts. All are one competitor per event, except for the TEAM DECISION EVENTS, which are teams of two.
- The PRINCIPLES OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION EVENTS are for first year DECA members only. The TEAM DECISION EVENTS are the most competitive. Try the new ENTREPRENEURSHIP Individual Event or the new ENTREPRENEURSHIP Team Event!
- Consider doing a written event this year. Written events begin at states.

“In regards to the scheduling process – please use the same link, however, I’m in the process of implementing new scheduling software for tours. That being said, if they go to book a week or 2 from now, it’s going to look a lot different and it’s not going to allow them to request any time after 3pm. I will take care of any DECA requests so just have them note timing and DECA in the comments section of the form.” -Lauren
